Everyone’s been raving about nutella based desserts for
quite a while. A few months ago I chanced upon BuzzFeedFood's nutella
brownie video and it looked so easy there was no excuse to not make them. I
don’t really have a sweet tooth for desserts, except brownies. The brownies at
Theobroma are my go-to favourite! The
good thing about a brownie is that it’s so uncomplicated and effortless (to
bake as well as eat) and it lends itself beautifully to so many variations.
This no frills recipe is perfect if you’re running low on time
as it’s a cinch to make. And anyway why would you resist anything that has
nutella in it? Duh! Another great thing about this recipe is that it doesn’t require
any fancy equipment; just a good old whisk or spatula will serve the purpose.
These brownies only need 3 ingredients and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or glass of milk if you wish. The recipe below does have a few alterations in the quantity, and I doubled the recipe. Why you may ask? Well, who would complain about extra brownies?!
Ingredients:
·
4 Eggs
·
140 grams All-Purpose Flour
·
700 grams Nutella*
Method:
Preferably
use a large bowl if you are going ahead with the quantities above. Its important
to grease your bowl with very little oil as this prevents the nutella from
sticking to the bottom of the bowl. I forgot to do this and had a tough time scraping
it from the bottom of the bowl once the batter was ready. Preheat your oven to
180 degree Celsius. And line your brownie pan or a square cake pan with
parchment or just grease it with butter.
There isn’t much
to explain here. You add the nutella to the bowl, then add your eggs and whisk
until combined. Once this is done start adding your flour preferably in two
batches and mix till you get a smooth batter. The batter is going to be sticky but
then that’s what nutella does.
Pour this
batter into your cake pan and level it. This baby is ready to go in the oven
for 30 minutes. Test with a toothpick. The toothpick should come out clean with
just a few crumbs. Cool them for about 20 minutes.
Also, if you
want your brownies to be on the cakey side, then you could add a teaspoon of
baking soda. But please let them be fudgy. Fudgy brownies are best!
I managed to
get 22 pieces of brownies using the above mentioned quantities. Not too big and
not too small either. You could slather the brownies with nutella for more
nutella awesomeness. For me they're perfect just the way they are.
